PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing electric wire capable of reducing the possibility of breaking the metal coated fiber, and to provide an electric wire capable of reducing the possibility of the peeling of a metal coat.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing electric wire 1, in which an insulating layer 20 is coated on a metal coated fiber 10 comprising a metal coat 12 at a circumferential surface of a tensile strength fiber 11, comprises the step of coating a lubricant on the circumferential surface of the metal coated fiber 10 prior to the coating of an insulating layer 20 by use of an extruder. Further, the electric wire 1 comprises: the metal coated fiber 10 in which the metal coat 12 is formed on the circumferential surface of the tensile strength fiber 11; the insulating layer 20 covering the circumference of the metal coated fiber 10; and a lubricant layer 30 consisting of a liquid lubricant which interposes between the metal coated fiber 10 and the insulating layer 20. |
