Provided is a cushion member that contributes to simplifying the structure of, and lowering the cost of, an entire seat structure. The cushion member (1) is configured so as to have an intermediate layer (10), and an upper layer (20) and a lower layer (30) that are layered on and bonded to the intermediate layer. The cushion member is bent and secured to a frame so that at an edge section, the upper layer (20) is on the obverse side and the lower layer (30) is on the reverse side. A shear force acts on the intermediate layer, and compressive/tensile stress acts on the upper layer and the lower layer. Spring characteristics of the intermediate layer cause a tensile/compressive residual stress originating from the intermediate layer to be imparted to the upper and lower layers, whereby a restoration force is imparted to the cushion member, creasing during zero load is reduced, permanent setting is made less likely, and apparent stroke characteristics (compression characteristics) in the thickness direction are increased. |
