An energy control device comprising a mains power input, a power output to an external electric device and an internet communications module through which the power output to the external device is controlled. There may be an input mains power sensor or other external energy management modules containing sensors or other input devices. The other external energy management modules may communicated via mains wiring, low voltage wiring or wirelessly. The sensor data may be transmitted via the internet to web services. The device may continue to be able to communicate via the internet in the event of power loss through use of a battery power supply. The firmware may be updated using over the air communications. The sensor data may be processed to identify changes in patterns of sensor data or forecast future demand. The results of the data processing may be published to the internet. |
