PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device that can read a document at an appropriate light intensity even with a light source the light intensity of which has not reached a target value after the adjustment of a pulse width in a period during which the light source can be lit, and an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: An image reading device 10 includes a plurality of light sources 21, light intensity adjustment unit 40, light detection unit 22, control unit 30, and density reference member 50. The control unit 30 controls the light intensity adjustment unit 40 and light detection unit 22. The control unit 30 controls the detection unit period of the light detection unit 22 on the basis of a density reference member detection light intensity indicating the light intensities detected by the light detection unit 22, the light intensities of a plurality of rays of color light emitted from the plurality of light sources 21 to the density reference member 50. |
