An image forming apparatus (100, Fig.1) includes conversion means (114, 115, Fig.3) for converting image data based on a conversion condition (gradation correction table LUT); image forming means (4, Fig.2) for forming an image based on the converted image data, measurement means (12, Fig.2) for measuring a measuring image, and generation means for controlling the image forming means to form a first measuring image (Q, Fig.4A) while the image forming means is continuously forming images, and generates the conversion condition based on first measurement data of the first measuring image and a first feedback condition. The generation means controls the image forming means to form a second measuring image (R, Fig.4B) during a period from when toner discharge processing has been performed until the image forming means forms a subsequent image, and generates the conversion condition based on second measurement data of the second measuring image, and a second feedback condition with a larger correction amount than the first feedback condition. Toner discharge is performed when the charge amount of toner increases due to an image having been formed at low toner consumption to thereby decrease the charge amount of the toner contained in a development device. |
