670,771. Jet propulsion plant; turbines. RUBISSOW, G. A. June 12, 1949, No. 15491/47. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 29, 1948.] Class 110(iii) [Also in Group XII] In a power plant for ships and vehicles in which steam from a boiler B, or gas from a high pressure rereceiver, is supplied through channels in a continuously rotating valve RV1 as intermittent "shots" to each of a number of jet tubes C1-C1 fitted with means CV1 for injecting synchronizec "shots" of liquid fuel between the steam or gas "shots," the valve comprises a rotating solid cylinder having channels 22-25 arranged at an angle to one another, the cylinder being a tight fit in a casing 37 having a storage chamber 35 arranged between the inlet conduit C from the boiler and the entrances 26-29 to the channels. The jet tubes may be provided with ignition means and means CV2 for injecting powdered fuel. The boiler also supplies steam to a reciprocating engine M which rotates the valve RV2 and to a turbine T which rotates a valve RV1 which produces intermittent " shots " in conduits C5, C6, C7. A turbine T2 comprising wheels 54, 55, 56 and a turbine T1 are supplied from conduits C5, C6. The boiler may be replaced by a storage tank for compressed air fitted with a motor-driven compressor 53. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, the use of the fuel "shots" is not essential with jet propulsion and fuel " shots" may be used in connection with driving the turbines. A reciprocating impulse-making valve is also described. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
