The present invention relates to an electrolyte for a secondary battery and a lithium secondary battery containing the same. A lithium secondary battery applying the electrolyte for a secondary battery according to the present invention has improved electrochemical properties at room temperature and high temperature, and has improved lifespan properties. The electrolyte for a secondary battery comprises lithium salts, a non-aqueous organic solvent and a metal complex.
