PURPOSE:To make setting operation easy and accurate by discriminating whether or not an ON/OFF key input is in the display state of an ON or OFF angle, and blinking a corresponding arrow symbol between blinking type upward and downward arrow symbols according to the decision result. CONSTITUTION:An absolute type encoder 5 with 256 resolution is connected to a connector 3. A cam No key 17 is pressed to specify a cam No and a skip key 16 is pressed to specify an operation step. Then when an ON/OFF key 15 is pressed, the upward arrow symbol blinks corresponding to the ON angle. In this state, a '+' or '-' angle key 11A or 11B is pressed, the ON angle is displayed on a display part, and a set key 14 is pressed to set the ON angle. Then a key 15 is pressed to blink the downward arrow symbol, the key 11A or 11B is pressed to display the OFF angle on the display part, and then a key 14 is pressed to set the OFF angle. Thus, when an output timing angle is set, it is discriminated clearly whether the ON angle or OFF angle is currently set from the blinking of the arrow symbol.
