A broker service apparatus for controlling a mobile device

A broker service apparatus for connecting a first mobile terminal device which is not connected to a wireless telephone network through an intermediary mobile terminal device. A broker service apparatus for controlling a second mobile device in response to a first mobile device having no connection to a telephony service, wherein the first mobile device is operable to transmit an identifier to the second mobile device using any connection that is operable to connect mobile devices. The first mobile device and second mobile device then join a first group which is given an identifier by the broker. The broker then notifies the telephony service of the unique identifier and can use the unique identifier to contact the second mobile device if the first mobile device cannot be paged directly (see Fig 7). The second mobile device can them forward the data to the first mobile device. If the first mobile device wishes to connect to the network when out of range, the first mobile device can forward a call placement request to the second mobile device and the second mobile device may forward the call placement request to the broker service (see Fig 8).
