The present invention relates to a saving system using a smart moneybox and a saving method thereof. The saving method comprises the steps of: sending images of bills inputted into the smart moneybox which are scanned by an image sensor of a scanning device mounted on the smart moneybox to a server through a wired/wireless network; comparing standard data of bills such as letters on a bill recognized by an optical character reader of the server, numbers and letters stored in a database, the amount of currency, a currency unit, a bank of issue, and an issuing country; informing a user terminal of saved amount of money through a wireless network; and providing rewards for saving such as event coupons or bonus coupons, sharing saving data with user′s acquaintances or providing a ranking of saving in order to encourage users to participate. |
