<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a range detection device in which resistance between a slider and a housing is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: A housing 41 has a side plate 452 for slidably supporting a slider 51 from below. The side plate 452 abuts on a separate plate 18 on a housing base 13. An opening 42 for communicating an inner surface 452a with an outer surface 452b of the side plate 452 is formed in the side plate 452. The opening 42 is communicated with a working fluid feed passage 300 of the housing base 13 via an opening 181 of the separate plate 18. Working fluid flowing in the working fluid feed passage 300 is introduced inside the housing 41 via the opening 181 and the opening 42. The introduced working fluid remains between the side surface 552 of the slider 51 and an opposing face 452c above the inner surface 452a of the housing 41.
