There is a need to provide devices and methods which can be used for determining whether or not a subject (and especially a child) under treatment is actually wearing their spectacles. Determining the level of a subjects€™ compliance to wearing their spectacles over a period of time would assist in the treatment of a wide range of ocular diseases and visual defects, such as amblyopia, myopia and hyperopia. Spectacles 4 have a sensor or monitor 10 such as temperature sensing means or contact sensing means, e.g. a switch which is arranged, in use, to detect when the spectacles are being worn by a subject such as a child 2. The sensor may have processing means arranged to receive first and/or second signal respectively indicating ‘wearing’ ‘not wearing’, and thereby determine when the spectacles are being worn. |
