The present invention relates to a surface treatment apparatus for a glass sectional portion that performs a surface treatment on the sectional portion with an oval or rectangular laser spot. The surface treatment apparatus for a glass sectional portion according to an embodiment of the present invention, which is an apparatus that performs a surface treatment on the glass sectional portion, includes: a laser generating device; and a laser spot shape changing unit that changes the shape of the laser spot from the laser generating device elongatedly in the longitudinal direction. The laser spot deformed by the laser spot shape changing unit is arranged such that its longitudinal direction is along the width direction of the sectional portion and the length of the deformed laser spot is set to exceed the width of the sectional portion. The surface treatment on the sectional portion is performed by the glass or the deformed laser spot being moved such that the deformed laser spot is along the edge of the glass.
