PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic wave type object detection device capable of determining whether a detection object exists in a close distance range or not even when extension of a sound reverberation impact time cannot be detected.SOLUTION: A detection results prediction section predicts a distance (prediction distance) from an object to be detected next time on the basis of detection results in the past and vehicle information such as vehicle speed and acceleration. A close distance determination section determines whether prediction distance is an upper limit (close distance threshold) or less of distance along which a reflection wave from a detection object is returned within a period during which sound reverberation of a transmission wave remains in an ultrasonic sensor. Then, a close distance determination section F5 determines whether an object (specified as a detection object) detected last time exists in a close distance range or not based on the detection results.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
