PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio encoding device that makes possible encoding with high tone quality even under encoding conditions of a low bit rate.SOLUTION: An audio encoding device is equipped with a detector that detects a plurality of lobes based on frequency signals constituting audio signals and a calculator that calculates a masking threshold for the frequency signals. The audio encoding device is further equipped with a distributor that distributes bit quantities per unit frequency rate to be allocated for encoding of the frequency signals on the basis of the masking threshold and a selector that selects the main lobe. In addition, the audio encoding device is equipped with a controller that controls encoding by reducing the bit quantity in a first range containing the maximum power value in the main lobe.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
