PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device of high luminance, which suffers from less degradation in light-emitting property even when used for a long time.SOLUTION: A light-emitting device comprises: a light-emitting element; and a cerium-activated garnet based phosphor which absorbs part of light from the light-emitting element, and emits light different from the absorbed light in wavelength. In the light-emitting device, a) the light-emitting element has a luminescent layer being an In-containing gallium nitride-based semiconductor and is capable of emit blue light having a peak wavelength in a range of 420-490 nm; b) the phosphor is included in glass; c) the phosphor is expressed by the general formula, (ReSm)(AlGa)O:Ce (where 0≤r<1, 0≤s≤1, Re represents at least one selected from Y and Gd); and d) the light emission of continuous synthetic spectra is enabled by superposition of light emission spectra emitted by the phosphor, and light emission spectra from the light-emitting element, which is not absorbed by the phosphor as a result of mixing thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
