The invention relates to a system for sealing the suction-sided gap (9) in a centrifugal pump, comprising a suction mouth (5) which is designed in a special manner and formed on the impeller wheel (8) of the centrifugal pump, and comprising a sealing element which is inserted into the gap (9) between the suction mouth (5) and the inner side of the pump housing (10). Said sealing element, which consists of a dimensionally stable base ring (1) and an annular elastic sealing lip (2) which is connected to the base ring (1) and which protrudes from said base ring in the axial direction with the free end (3) thereof, is pressed into the pump housing (10) by the outer periphery of the base ring thereof (1). The free end (3) of the sealing lip (2) extends in an inclined manner in the axial direction with respect to the central axis (12) of the suction mouth (5) within an angular range of between 15° with respect to the central axis (12) and is inclined up to and 15° of the central axis (12). The suction mouth (5) is designed such that the outer diameter thereof (11) reduces constantly in the direction of the inlet opening thereof (7) at least over the total axial length of the sliding surface (6) formed on the outer side. |
