A press (2) for producing material panels is arranged within an enclosure (12). Means for extracting waste air (7, 72) from the enclosure are provided on or in the region of the enclosure. The enclosure has a material lock (13) which defines an opening for introducing a starting material or for discharging a product. The material lock has a vertically adjustable upper lock wall (20) and/or horizontally adjustable lateral lock walls. Furthermore, means are provided for regulating an air flow (22) through the opening which is defined by the material lock, in such a way that a flow velocity of the air flow does not exceed a predefined threshold value.
