The present invention provides a conveying unit 20 that includes: a left side conveyance wall section 31 and a right side conveyance wall section 32 by which a right side face 31a and a left side face 32a are arranged so as to oppose each other, and which regulate displacement, in the width direction, of a passing paper sheet; and an inner side conveyance wall section 33 and an outer side conveyance wall section 34 by which an inner side inner wall face 33a and an outer side inner wall face 34a are arranged so as to oppose each other, and which regulate displacement, in the thickness direction, of a passing paper sheet. The conveying unit 20 is configured to convey a banknote PM through a conveyance path 30 surrounded by the right side face 31a, the left side face 32a, the inner side inner wall face 33a, and the outer side inner wall face 34a. The outer side conveyance wall section 34 has spaces S, and, when a part of the banknote PM conveyed along the conveyance path 30 contacts the right side face 31a or the left side face 32a and is thus bent, the bent part is allowed to enter the space S. |
