A method and device for data transmission are provided in embodiments of the present invention, the method comprising: a base station acquires downlink data, the downlink data including protocol data units to be transmitted to user equipment by the base station; and the base station transmits the protocol data units, a Media Access Control (MAC) address of the base station, and MAC addresses of the user equipment to a shunting device, the MAC address of the base station and the MAC addresses of the user equipment being used for the shunting device to shunt the protocol data units to the user equipment via a wireless local area network. The embodiments of the present invention ensure the service continuity during the shunting process.
