Provided is a secondary battery which is provided with: a positive electrode; a negative electrode; an alkaline electrolyte solution; a separator structure which separates the positive electrode and the negative electrode from each other, and which does not have water permeability; and a container which accommodates at least the negative electrode and the alkaline electrolyte solution. The separator structure is provided with: a ceramic separator with a porous base; and a reinforcing part which has a grid-like structure having a plurality of openings, and which reinforces the ceramic separator with a porous base at the outer periphery thereof and/or at least one side thereof. The ceramic separator with a porous base is provided with: a ceramic separator that is formed of a hydroxide ion-conductive inorganic solid electrolyte body which is in the form of a film or layer that is densified enough to have water impermeability; and a porous base that is provided on at least one surface of the ceramic separator. The present invention is able to provide a secondary battery which is provided with a hydroxide ion-conductive ceramic separator with a porous base in a form which is capable of ensuring a strength that is high enough to enable the separator to have a larger area. |
