This colorimeter and calorimetry method involve: extracting a chart area candidate as a candidate for a chart area from an image of a color chart; calculating an evaluation value for this chart area candidate; on the basis of the calculated evaluation value, determining whether the chart area candidate is a chart area; for chart area candidate a determined , as a result of this determination, to be a chart area, calculating locations of a plurality of patches; and measuring the color of each patch at the plurality of calculated locations. |
