PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode wire for electric discharge machining which can improve a machining speed, at the same time, can improve wire connection performance and suppresses a manufacturing cost, in the electrode wire made by arranging β brass and γ brass on an outer circumferential surface of a core material, and to provide a manufacturing method of the electrode wire for electric discharge machining.SOLUTION: An electrode wire for electric discharge machining has such a core material that an outer layer containing β brass and γ brass and an interface with the outer layer are undulated and the β brass and γ brass are unevenly arranged on the undulated interface. A manufacturing method of the electrode wire for electric discharge machining includes a heat treatment process of subjecting base material made by covering a core material surface with zinc to heat treatment in prescribed heat treatment conditions and a wire-drawing process of providing a bus line formed of the β brass and γ brass on the surface of the core material such that the γ brass arrives at the core material in prescribed wire-drawing conditions by heat treatment and forming the interface with the outer layer of the core material in an undulated shape.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
