PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize binarization which substantially prevents blur or crush.SOLUTION: A binarizing device detects a pixel, as a ho horizontal peak pixel, having an extremal value when an input image of a multiple value is scanned along in a horizontal direction. A first to a forth differences (DIF, DIF, DIF, and DIF) of a pixel value (v[x,y]) of the horizontal peak pixel and the other reference pixel value (v[x-1,y], v[x+1,y], v[x-2,y], and v[x+2,y]) are calculated with reference to a pixel value of continuous five pixels in the horizontal direction including the horizontal peak pixel as a center. A sum of a left side edge intensity based on the difference (DIFand DIF) in the left side of horizontal peak pixel and a right edge intensity based on the difference (DIFand DIF) of the right side of horizontal peak pixel is obtained as a horizontal peak intensity. In the case where an absolute value of the horizontal peak intensity is equal to a predetermined value or more, the horizontal peak pixel is binarized into 0 or 1 in accordance with a code of the horizontal peak intensity, and the same process is performed in a vertical direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
