PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detection device capable of suppressing cost increase and suppressing the extension of a transmission/reception cycle while suppressing a drive assist operation from malfunctioning by interference.SOLUTION: A reception-level observation unit 16 of an ultrasonic sensor 10 observes whether an interference wave is received before a transmission/reception unit 11 transmits a transmission wave, and notifies an ECU 20 of an observation result.
