PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the useless consumption of a lubricant by actively controlling the elastic deformation amount of an application member for applying a solid lubricant, so as to surely suppress the scattering of the lubricant.SOLUTION: A shield member 107 is arranged so as to come into contact with a rotary brush 104 at a downstream from a contact position between the rotary brush 104 and a solid lubricant 106 and at an upstream from a contact position between the rotary brush 104 and an image carrier, in the rotational direction of the rotary brush 104 applying the lubricant. The contact part 107a of the shield member 107 with the rotary brush 104 is formed in a substantially arc shape. The elastic deformation amount of the rotary brush 104 is gradually reduced according to the rotation of the rotary brush 104. The contact part 107a is formed so as to return the rotary brush 104 to an original shape in the vicinity of a rotation position where the rotary brush 104 leaves the contact part 107a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
