In order to minimize twisting of sliders about a center axis lying the direction of extension/retraction thereof, without substantially increasing the thickness of a transfer device (2), the transfer device (2) extends and retracts at least three stages of sliders which are connected to one another by connecting parts comprising guide blocks (54-57) and guide rails (58-61). The sliders (8-16) are greater in height than in horizontal width in a cross section perpendicular to the direction of extension/retraction, at least two stages of sliders are arranged superimposed top and bottom, and a plate (70) extending in the vertical direction from one of the at least two stages of sliders is situated so as to slide against the other of the at least two stages of sliders. |
