PURPOSE:To efficiently produce a steel wire for soft magnetic substance excellent in magnetic properties and workability by specifying the composition of a steel stock, rolling conditions, cooling conditions, and the percentage of reduction of area at the time of subsequent wiredrawing, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A steel stock having a composition containing, by weight, <=0.1% C and 0.5-3.5% Si is heated up to 850-1050 deg.C and finish-rolled at >=1000 deg.C. The rolled stock is cooled at <=600 deg.C/sec cooling rate from the conclusion of rolling to coiling and then cold-worked at >=65% percentage of reduction of area, by which the steel wire for soft magnetic substance can be obtained. The purposes of the specification of the above composition are to secure coercive force and magnetic flux density, to prevent the embrittlement of products, and to obtain superior workability, and further, the main purposes of the specification of rolling conditions, cooling conditions, etc., are to obtain superior magnetic properties and to prevent the occurrence of fine cracks in the surface layer part due to wrinkles, flaws, etc., at the time of rolling. |
