The heat interface unit comprises a supply inlet 18 and a return outlet 20 connectable with a district heating supply, a control unit 12, a control valve 22 to control water flow from the district supply, and a domestic hot water heat exchanger (DHWHE) 30. The DHWHE includes an inlet and outlet 32 on a first side to pass district heating water across the exchanger. A second side of the DHWHE includes an inlet connectable to cold mains water 38 and an outlet connectable to a hot water supply 34 for the property. A central heating heat exchanger (CHHE) 42 may also be provided that uses water from the district supply to heat central heating water of the property circulated by a pump 52. A diverter valve 24 may selectively supply district heating water to the CHHE. Ideally the control unit has proportional integral derivative control and may automatically detect errors in the interface unit. The interface unit may include a hibernation setting whereby if no demand for heat has been received by the control unit for the DHWHE or the CHHE for a predetermined time interval then a pulse of district heating water is passed through the CHHE. |
