Classes 38 (iii) and 38 (v) [Also in Group XXXV] A terminal board 18 within the casing of a split-phase motor carries the spring contacts 26, 30 of the starting switch and also a thermal overload cut-out device 40. Terminals 20, 21, 22, 23, extending through the board 18 are accessible through an opening in the end shield 6 and are connected at the rear to the switch and cut-out devices. The movable contact of the switch 30 is mounted on a spring 31 having a pair of arms 32 with wear pads 33 for engagement with a push-collar 16 controlled by a centrifugal device 14, while the stationary contact 26 is secured to the board 18, a stop 34 being provided to limit the disengaging movement of the spring arm 31. The spring member 31 is mounted on a projecting portion 37 providing spacing from the board 18 so that by suitable bending the pressure of the wear-pads on the push-collar 16 can be adjusted. The overload device 40 which contains a heater and bimetallic strip is mounted on the board. The running winding is split for connection in series or parallel to suit the applied voltage, suitable connections to the terminals being described. Specification 504,678 is referred to.</p> |
