摘要 A system of waste heat recovery and compressed air energy storage is provided wherein the system comprises at least two compression stages 3, 7 powered by a supply of electrical energy, and an intercooler 5 or aftercooler 17 for removing heat from a compressed air flow, and a compressed air energy storage vessel (CAES) 27. Compressed air stored in the CAES is stored at near ambient temperature. The compressed air is extracted from the CAES and heated in at least two stages provided by air heaters (64, 70, figure 2). The air heaters use waste heat at a temperature of at least 400°C. The compressed air, after heating, is expanded (73) to produce power. Preferably the waste heat is a provided by a gas turbine exhaust. Heat may be recovered from the intercooler or aftercooler by way of a heat transfer fluid such as water or thermic oil. Heat may be transferred between the intercooler or aftercooler to a boiler (43) of an organic Rankin cycle.
