PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of accurately determining the position of a test pattern from a waveform of reflected light even when an ink color of the test pattern is different.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a reading means 30 to irradiate a recording medium with light to receive reflected light; a pattern data storage means 618 to store pattern data for forming a test pattern; a test pattern formation means 617 to form a test pattern by reading the pattern data; an intensity data storage means 525 to store intensity data of reflected data received from a scanning position of the light by a light reception means while the light moves on the test pattern; and a position detection means 616 to apply line position determination calculation to the intensity data included in a lower limit from a predetermined upper limit to detect the position of a line; wherein the test pattern formation means forms a test pattern where minimum values of the reflected light reflected by a plurality of lines constituting the test pattern are each set at a comparable level, and at least one color line out of the plurality of lines is formed with a pattern of first and second droplets having colors different from each other. |
