An embodiment of the present invention relates to an image display device and an operating method thereof. The image display device obtains fingerprint information on a fingerprint of a user and transmits the obtained fingerprint information to a server for authorizing if the user has a permission to use a service mode. The image display device receives, from the server, a service mode authorization signal for the permission to allow the user to use a service mode, and is operated in a service mode based on the received service mode authorization signal corresponding to the obtained finger information. The image display device of the present invention can enhance security and effectively manage a history of using and operating a service mode requiring limited use and security. |
