The invention relates to a method for determining the type of a lamp (L) or the topology of a plurality of lamps (L1 to L4) which is/are operated using alternating voltage having variable frequency (f), wherein the power supplied to the lamp(s) is controlled to a known value by varying the frequency (f). The frequency (f) obtained as a result of the control is evaluated by comparing known frequency values for the determination of the type or topology. |
