A transportable deployable building with a collapsed, compact form (200, Fig. 8) and an assembled deployed form 201, having a plurality of roof 211, wall 215 and floor 239 panel elements with hinges 219 connecting one or more of them, and the deployed form having a rigid medial support panel element 203 extending from the floor, roof and gable wall elements 225, 227. The medial support may have an upper ridge 209 which the roof panels are hingedly mounted to and a central floor element 237 to which the floor panels are hingedly mounted. One or more building systems may be provided in a shipping container. The building system is intended to provide readily assembled, cost effective but robust shelters to disaster zones capable of withstanding severe weather events such as hurricanes. Also disclosed is a building that may be configured between a first normal configuration and a second wind-resistant configuration. |
