METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DRIVING LIGHT EMITTING DIODE USING AVERAGE CURRENT CONTROL

The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for driving a light-emitting diode by using average current control, which are capable of driving a light source at a constant luminous flux. According to the present invention, the apparatus for driving a light-emitting diode by using average current control comprises: a light source which includes at least one light-emitting diode: a power supply unit which supplies power to the light source; a current control unit which is connected to the power supply unit and includes a switch element and a detection resistor for pulse width modulation (PWM) driving of the light source; and a control unit which is connected to the current control unit and controls a duty value of the PWM driving so that a current having a constant average value is applied to the light source.
