The present invention relates to a liquid crystal aligning agent, a liquid crystal alignment film and a producing method thereof, a liquid crystal display device, and a phase difference film and a producing method therof. The liquid crystal aligning agent has good electric properties and spreadability, and also contains a compound (X) having a polymer component, a hydrophilic unit, a hydrophobic unit and a reactive unit. In addition, the compound (X) comprises a compound having at least one selected from the group consisting of -COOX^1 (X^1 is a protecting group), a protecting iso(thio)cyanate group, an epoxy group, a (meth)acryloyl group and a cyclic carbonate group, as the reaction unit. |
