Provided is a nitrogen oxide sensor. The nitrogen oxide sensor includes: a solid electrolyte layer; a first diffusion passage positioned on one end of the solid electrolyte layer and enabling the intake of an exhaust gas from the outside; a first cavity connected to the first diffusion passage and controlling an oxygen partial pressure of the exhaust gas gone through the first diffusion passage; a first pumping electrode including an inner pumping electrode formed in the first cavity and an outer pumping electrode formed in a position, not the first cavity; a second cavity connected to the first cavity and separating a nitrogen oxide gone through the first cavity into nitrogen and an oxygen ion; a detection electrode formed in the second cavity; and a reference electrode formed in a different position, not the second cavity, and installed inside an air duct of which one end is connected to the air. The nitrogen oxide sensor is capable of removing oxygen from the exhaust gas by controlling a voltage between the detection electrode and the outer pumping electrode and measuring the concentration of the nitrogen oxide based on a current generated by transferring the oxygen ion to the detection electrode by controlling a voltage between the detection electrode and the reference electrode. The purpose of the present invention is to provide the nitrogen oxide sensor with high measurement sensitivity of which a structure is simple.
