PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method and a control unit for a motor that can precisely control the motor which outputs signals of two out-of-phase channels representing a rotational state.SOLUTION: A control method includes: a step of receiving signals of two channels representing a rotational state of a motor; a step of outputting a constant-period clock; a step (S206) of determining a detection period corresponding to a target rotational state and edge pulses of the signals of the two channels, and counting clocks for the detection period; a step (208) of comparing the clock count with a predetermined value; and a step (210) of outputting a control signal to the motor according to a comparison result, the target rotational state corresponding to one of acceleration rotation, deceleration rotation, and equal-speed rotation, and the predetermined value being a value previously set according to the respective acceleration rotation, deceleration rotation, and equal-speed rotation.
