PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of moving a shield member even when power supply is forcibly stopped.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a fixing member that is rotatably provided and is configured to be loop-shaped; a pressure member that is rotatably provided and presses the fixing member; a heat source 23 that is disposed in the fixing member and heats an area including an area to be heated of the fixing member; a shield member 25 that is provided movably between a shield position between the area to be heated and the heat source 23 and a retreat position where the shield member 25 is retreated from the shield position; retreat means 71 that retreats the shield member 25 to the retreat position following the rotation of the fixing member; and proceeding means 73 that makes the shield member 25 proceed to the shield position following the stop of the rotation of the fixing member.
