PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide resolution enhancement of images captured in an interferometer and, in particular a method for reducing the artifacts introduced into demodulated images by an X-ray source.SOLUTION: An impulse response of an X-ray source of an interferometer system and an impulse response of a detector of the interferometer system are determined independently of each other. An image of a subject generated by a grating of the interferometer system is captured, and the image is captured by the detector of the interferometer system. The captured image is processed using the determined detector impulse response to attenuate artefacts introduced by the detector. An image processed to generate a demodulated image is demodulated, and the demodulated image is processed using the X-ray source impulse response to reduce the artifacts introduced into the demodulated image by the X-ray source.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
