PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a modified conjugated diene-based polymer having excellent balance between low hysteresis loss property and wet skid resistance in a vulcanized product and having excellent wear resistance, fracture strength and processability.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a modified conjugated diene-based polymer, which comprises: a polymerization step of obtaining a conjugated diene-based polymer by polymerization of a conjugated diene compound or copolymerization of a conjugated diene compound and an aromatic compound in the presence of a polar ether compound using an alkali metal compound and/or an alkaline earth metal compound as a polymerization initiator; and a modification step of reacting the conjugated diene compound and a compound (A) represented by the formula (2).
