METHOD FOR CALCULATING SPOT COLOR DATABASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient and low-cost method for calculating spectral characterization of a spot color.SOLUTION: The method for calculating a spectral data set of a spot color includes: generating or selecting spectral characterization data of a printing process; selecting a colorimetrically defined spot color from a color table; calculating a spectrum of the spot color based on the spectral characterization data on a white printing substrate and a black printing substrate; calculating a spectrum of a spot color that is screened from the spectrum of the spot color on the white/black printing substrates; adapting the spectrum of the spot color to a defined white printing substrate; adapting to a predetermined value from the color table and adapting to a defined black printing substrate; and adapting the value increase of the spectrum form to a defined standard. The calculated spectral data set are used for color control in a printing press.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
