PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air battery which is free from oxidative decomposition of a carbon material of an air electrode during charging and thus has higher output characteristics.SOLUTION: An air battery A includes a negative electrode 2, an air electrode 1, and an electrolyte 3 interposed between the negative electrode and the air electrode. The air electrode 1 includes: an oxygen evolution reaction layer 11 for charging which is provided on the electrolyte side of the air electrode and contains an oxygen evolution reaction catalyst containing no carbon; an oxygen reduction reaction layer 12 for discharging which is provided on the side opposite to the electrolyte side of the air electrode and contains an oxygen reduction reaction catalyst containing carbon; and a collector 10 provided between the oxygen evolution reaction layer and the oxygen reduction reaction layer or in the oxygen evolution reaction layer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
