PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine which improves efficiency by reducing a harmonic loss to be generated in a stator coil, a rotary electric machine drive system employing the rotary electric machine, and a railway vehicle.MEANS FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEM: The rotary electric machine comprises: a stator including a stator coil including a plurality of conductors; and a rotor which is opposite to the stator while interposing a cavity therebetween. In the rotary electric machine, thickness of the conductor is set to a value that is equal to or less than skin depth of a magnetic flux in the cavity relative to space harmonics. Further, such a rotary electric machine is applied to the rotary electric machine drive system or the railway vehicle. Thus, since the loss caused by the space harmonics to be generated in the stator coil can be reduced, the efficiency of the rotary electric machine can be improved. Further, a loss to be generated in the rotary electric machine drive system or the railway vehicle that is driven by the rotary electric machine, can be reduced.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
