PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a person detection system and method capable of accurately and easily discriminating and detecting whether each heat generator existing in an area is a person or a pet.SOLUTION: A heat generator activity amount calculation part 14 is configured to, on the basis of a thermal image obtained by photographing an area A, detect the position of a heat generator existing in the area A, and to, on the basis of the time series variation of the position, calculate a heat generator activity amount related to the heat generator, and a pet activity amount calculation part 15 is configured to, on the basis of acceleration data detected by an acceleration sensor 23 mounted on a pet 31, calculate a pet activity amount related to the pet 31, and a person determination part 16 is configured to calculate a correlation value between the time series variation of the heat generator activity amount and the time series variation of the pet activity amount, and to compare the correlation value with a reference correlation value to determine whether the heat generator is a person 30 or the pet 31.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
