PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality detector and abnormality detection method capable of accurately detecting abnormality of a power supply circuit used for a brake of a motor.SOLUTION: According to an embodiment, there is provided an abnormality detector comprising a current detection unit and an abnormality determination circuit. The current detection unit detects current supplied from a power supply circuit to a brake of a motor according to input of an opening instruction signal. The abnormality determination circuit receives, as input, a current value of the current detected by the current detection unit as well as receives, as input, the opening instruction signal. The abnormality determination circuit determines that the power supply circuit is abnormal, when the current value is lower than a first threshold in a state in which the opening instruction signal is being input.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
