PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication medium capable of enhancing the degree of coupling between a first coupling coil and a second coupling coil.SOLUTION: An IC card 10 which is a communication medium comprises an IC module 20 and a substrate 30 to which the IC module 20 is assembled. The IC module 20 comprises: an IC chip 22 comprising a non-contact communication unit including a communication terminal; a first coupling coil 24 that is connected with the communication terminal and is a planar coil along a first surface; and a magnetic substance 25 that is fixed to the first coupling coil 24 and covers at least part of the first coupling coil 24. The substrate 30 comprises: an antenna 32; and a second coupling coil 33 that is connected with the antenna 32 and is a planer coil along a second surface extending along a surface direction of the first surface, the second coupling coil 33 being placed at a position capable of electromagnetic coupling with the first coupling coil 24.
