PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-stage automatic transmission for a vehicle, which improves fuel economy by ten forward speeds and one reverse speed and improves quiet travelling of the vehicle by using an operation point of a low RPM range of an engine.SOLUTION: A multi-state automatic transmission for a vehicle of the invention comprises: a first planetary gear set with a first brake (B1) disposed in front of the same; a second planetary gear set with a first clutch (C1) disposed behind the same; a third planetary gear set with a second clutch (C2) disposed behind the same; a fourth planetary gear set with a third clutch (C3) disposed in front of the same and with a second brake (B2) and a fourth clutch (C4) disposed behind the same; an input shaft (IN) to which a first rotation element of the first planetary gear set is directly connected and a second rotation element of the second planetary gear set is connected; and an output shaft (OUT) to which a second rotation element of the fourth planetary gear set is directly connected and a third gear of the second planetary gear set is selectively connected.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
