PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of stably extracting an exposure part potential even when the secular change of a latent image carrier or the change in the use environment is generated.SOLUTION: A printer includes: a photoreceptor; a charging device that charges the surface of the photoreceptor; an optical writing unit that forms an electrostatic latent image; a development device that develops the electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor; a potential sensor that detects a surface potential of the photoreceptor; and a potential control device that calculates an exposure part potential on the surface of the photoreceptor. In the printer, the potential control device calculates, with respect to the polarity on the charging potential side, an exposure part potential on the basis of the detection value of a surface potential, which is a smaller value than a prescribed potential threshold, among the surface potentials detected by the potential sensor. In the printer, the potential threshold is set, on the basis of at least any one of the change in the non-exposure part potential that is a surface potential of a non-exposure part not exposed after charging on the surface of the photoreceptor, the secular change of the photoreceptor, and the change in the use environment, so that the potential threshold is a value between the exposure part potential and the non-exposure part potential.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
